Essential relocation information at your fingertips.

Website

As part of Homes Victoria’s Big Housing Build, they are redeveloping Melbourne’s older social housing high-rises and building new and improved ones. While this creates more homes, it also means that many people currently living in social housing will need to temporarily relocate. Naturally, such large-scale change in any community raises a lot of questions and concerns and creates a deep need for clear information. That’s where we came in. We partnered with Homes Victoria to improve their digital resources, redesign and rebuild their website, create an interactive relocation hub and make access to information as smooth as possible.
Strategic design for seamless web navigation
Our first step was research. We spoke to relocating residents, neighbours, community members and potential tenants, all to understand how they used the existing website, unpack their questions about the redevelopment process and explore how they access the breadth of Homes Vic services.
Based on their feedback, we identified key features to improve and developed a dual-phase approach. In phase 1, we developed an interactive relocation hub for easy access to information. Among the updated resources, we included a custom map featuring real-time key information from the Big Housing Build development database and a short quiz clarifying the range of available social housing options.
In phase 2, we overhauled their existing website, redesigning and rebuilding the content architecture, providing a robust and secure Gov CMS framework for ease of management and ultimately, creating a seamless user experience backed by effective design. Users found the improved platform to be more intuitive, simple and relevant to what they were after. Our work increased Homes Vic’s website engagement, enhanced their capability and most importantly, supported residents, renters and the broader community to find the information they needed.
