WorkSafe Regional Breakfast Series

Think HQ supported WorkSafe Victoria in the delivery of a regional roadshow event series to communicate important changes to Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.

The five stop roadshow was an enormous success. More than 750 local stakeholders attended across five events, surpassing WorkSafe Victoria’s target of 50 attendees per event by 330%.

The brief

In 2017, WorkSafe Victoria wanted to inform stakeholders across the state about important updates to Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, eight new compliance codes and its new strategic direction.

Think HQ was asked to support delivery of a regional roadshow event series to communicate these changes, with activity to include event promotion and management, stakeholder engagement and development of the overall concept and theme.

The idea

Through research with Regional Operations Managers and Senior WorkSafe team members, Think HQ identified five event locations across the state; Geelong, Mildura, Traralgon, Bendigo and Ballarat.

Our goal was to get key stakeholders — a mix of local business owners, managers, supervisors and health and safety representatives in the same room to hear about the changes, and we utilised an engaging keynote speaker as our drawcard.

From development of the event concept and theme, to promoting the events through to local partner networks, booking and managing speakers, and on the day event management, we managed the events from conception through to evaluation.

Outcomes

We secured keynote speakers, Cameron Ling and Peter Knights for the five events, developed tailored emcee briefing and speaking notes, and created event collateral, including menus, programs, and a presentation slide deck.

The five stop roadshow was an enormous success. More than 750 local stakeholders attended across five events, surpassing WorkSafe Victoria’s target of 50 attendees per event by 330%.

Results from the post event survey indicated 91% of attendees were satisfied with the event they attended, with 92% indicating they were likely to attend another WorkSafe event in future.

Positive media coverage was secured across each location, with outlets covering the Roadshow including Nova FM, Bay FM, ABC Swan Hill, ABC Bendigo, Mildura Weekly, The Courier and Sunraysia Daily.

This project demonstrates our past success in planning, delivering and evaluating a successful conference series visiting multiple Victorian locations.

We delivered a similar roadshow project, visiting six regional Victorian locations, for the Victorian Government’s Small Business Festival in 2016.
