    Plumbing and Fire Industry Awards

    In 2015, Master Plumbers engaged Think HQ to provide media relations, event management and collateral development assistance for the inaugural 2015 Plumbing and Fire Industry Awards.

    A joint initiative of the National Fire Industry Association (NFIA), the Plumbing Industry Climate Action Centre (PICAC) and the Plumbing Trades Employees Union (PTEU), the awards celebrated plumbing and fire protection professionals, and showcased women and Indigenous industry leaders.

    Held at the RACV Club Melbourne, more than 350 industry professionals and dignitaries, including Opposition Leader Bill Shorten MP, attended the event.

    The PR goal was to profile the plumbing and fire protection sectors through the placement of metropolitan and local news stories. Think HQ was also contracted to provide event planning assistance and event management on the night.

    Communicating value, point of difference crucial under NDIS

    The disability sector is a $22 billion market. It goes without saying that in a sector that big, competition between disability service providers is immense.

    That competitiveness is about to be further compounded, with the rollout of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) commencing in stages around Australia from last year. The scheme will see consumers granted greater autonomy about where their funding for care will go – which essentially means that in most cases, disability service providers will need to fight much harder for their slice of the consumer pie.

    Historically, government funding models have demanded that organisations focus on streamlining expenditure and creating efficiencies to maintain their funding. Good business sense and the ability to remain fiscally frugal have been the key.

    Think HQ and Australians for Mental Health tackle mental illness shame and stigma

    For the month of January, Think HQ assisted Australians for Mental Health (AFMH), a grassroots organisation fighting for mental health reform, with the Share Your Story project.

    The purpose of Share Your Story month was to create an open discussion about mental illness, aiming to end the stigma and shame often associated with mental ill health.

    We invited Australians from all walks of life to share their experiences with mental health - whether it had impacted them directly or indirectly.

    Think HQ corresponded with participants and curated their stories to share on the AFMH website and its social media platforms, including Facebook and Twitter.

    Throughout the month, the comments and feedback AFMH received on its social media platforms were overwhelmingly positive and encouraging.

    Think HQ was also successful in raising awareness about AFMH – the project generated an increase in 135 Facebook page likes, and its Twitter account attracted 109 new followers.

    Think HQ’s Jenna Waite joins IABC Victoria Board of Directors

    Congratulations to our own Jenna Waite, who has been appointed as the new Student and Academic Liaison - Chair for the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Victoria.

    In her new role, Jenna will be engaging communications students and professionals from the Victorian tertiary sector via exciting new programs and initiatives that encourage knowledge-sharing and assist participants in building valuable professional networks.

    Jenna has previously been involved with the IABC as the 2015 Victorian Student Ambassador, where she successfully developed student-focused events and established online student networking sites.

    Above All Human

    Our Account Director and Digital Strategist Jane Metlikovec recently attended the Above All Human conference in Melbourne, an event for innovators and entrepreneurs.

    Here are some of Jane’s insights from the conference.

    Think HQ: What was the most insightful aspect about Above All Human? Who was your favourite speaker?

    Jane: It was fantastic to hear from so many leaders in innovation, entrepreneurship and technology, both home-grown and from across the seas. However, the highlights for me were Anil Daish and Kate Morris.

    Anil, an American technology and blogging giant, gave a powerful presentation about using technology for good. He believes that digital communicators need to stop creating for the top five per cent, and start directing their efforts towards creating digital solutions for those who have the least. His vision is a perfect reflection of Think HQ’s philosophy and why we exist – to work on projects of substance.
